Deb and I watched Midsommar last night. Holy cow. What a freaky horror movie. If you enjoyed director Ari Astor’s previous movie Hereditary, you’ll appreciate this one. Both movies share a common theme, where a woman slowly becomes engulfed by the evil around her, eventually succumbing to it. I believe that for many people watching this movie, it was the first time they ever thought of Swedes as terrifying or evil. There is a director’s cut that adds another 25 minutes, but I think I’ve experienced enough of the terror that is Sweden.
